Out of Many—Stories of Migration

for The Documentary Works

Working with the premise that “we all come from somewhere,” five photographers explored the central role that immigration and migration have played—and continue to play—in the formation of our identity and culture, and in sustaining our economy. Five different dust jackets allow each photographer to be on a portion of the covers and also act as a “wall” in front of the title. The endpapers feature maps showing the birthplace of each person—and location of each migrant and immigrant community building—featured in the book. Letters on the title page have “moved.” And the essays are on pages based on a range of skin colors. 9 x 11 inches, 120 pages, with five different dust jackets.
