Welcome to Marwencol

for Princeton Architectural Press

In April 2000, Mark Hogancamp was beaten and left for dead outside a bar in his hometown of Kingston, NY. Waking from a nine-day coma, he had no memory of the thirty-eight prior years of his life. To help reconstruct his past, Hogancamp built—in his backyard—”Marwencol,” an imaginary, 1:6 scale village set in World War II Belgium, where everybody is welcome as long as peace is kept. This book explains Hogancamp’s process, shares hundreds of his photos and presents eight “Marwencol Stories,” in comic book form. Soon to be a film by Robert Zemeckis and starring Steve Carell. 7 x 9.5 inches, 256 pages.
